Dear LHSD Community,

I would like to officially welcome you to the 2021-22 school year. While this year will continue to present new challenges that we must together work to overcome, I am confident that we can collectively carry out our mission to engage, empower educate and succeed, even if the school routine looks different. Thank you for your continued cooperation in these unprecedented times.

The LHSD Reopening Plan closely adheres to guidance from the Ohio Department of Health, Ohio Department of Education, Ohio High School Athletic Association, and our local health department, and the K-12 Reopening Guidelines from Governor DeWine. If you have not already viewed the Reopening Plan, it is available on our district website.

While there is no 'perfect' solution to answer the many questions and concerns facing students and families, we have worked to create the safest, highest-quality experience possible for our students and staff. We will continue to monitor the ongoing developments of COVID-19 spread in our community. The safety of each of our district's students, staff members and families has been, and will continue to be our top priority in everything we do.

Our school year will begin with a staggered start, as well as virtual open houses for each school, and in-person opportunities for students who will be attending class in a new building due to their grade level.

Each school building will host a Virtual Open House that will be released during the week of August 17. Families with students entering Kindergarten, Grade 5 and Grade 9 will have the opportunity to attend an in-person open house, limited to one parent per household and their student on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Kindergarten (Elementary) – 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday Aug. 18

• Grade 5 (Middle School) – 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18

• Grade 9 (High School) – 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18

Our first day of school for the 2020-2021 academic year is Monday, August 24, designed with a staggered start for Logan Middle School and Logan High School to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

  • All Grades, First day for five-day Preschool

• Tuesday, September 1

  • All Grades, First Day for four-day Preschool

LHSD continues to be here each of our students and district families as we approach the upcoming school year. We are all in this together, and will continue collaborating, innovating and working together for the best possible outcomes for our students, staff and community.
