Dear LHSD Families,
During the early afternoon of February 5, 2024, the Logan-Hocking School District (LHSD) was notified of a student reporting to the School Resource Officer that a fellow student might have a gun in their possession. Within a matter of minutes, we immediately searched the student's book bag and found a BB gun without a cartridge.
There were no verbal threats made. The immediate area was also searched and no additional threat was found. There was no threat and no hint of violence in the situation.
We would like to applaud the student who immediately spoke up about this concern and allowed this investigation to be conducted within a matter of minutes, contributing to the swift resolution of the situation.
As always, if any student, parent or community member sees or hears something suspicious, please report it to local law enforcement immediately. Students are reminded to alert a district staff member or law enforcement if they see or hear something concerning.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Monte Bainter, Superintendent
