The Brighten Your Future (BYF) Trustees are pleased to announce 42 Logan High School graduates will receive BYF funds for the 2024-2025 academic school year.

BYF grants are based on need and the grants come from the interest earned from the assets of the organization. Brighten Your Future is also celebrating its 35th year of giving, after reaching a milestone last year, having awarded over $2 Million in grant money to assist Logan High School graduates to further their education.

Brighten Your Future (BYF) is Logan-Hocking community's program to provide access to higher education for graduates of Logan High School. Its goal is to assure that students have the money necessary to pursue education beyond high school. To achieve this goal, Brighten Your Future provides "last dollar" grants to all qualified students.

Over 600 individual students have benefited from BYF grants during these years. Recipients may use their grants at any accredited college, university or other career-training program and may be eligible for grants each year for up to five years of undergraduate schooling.

Grants to students are based on need, which is determined from documents they provide as part of their application. “Need” is strictly a numerical calculation using information applicants provide.  Each year, trustees establish a maximum amount for each grant based on the number of dollars available and the number of eligible applicants. Students are eligible for a grant based on their need, up to the maximum. Most students qualify for the maximum amount. Some applicants qualify for a lesser amount and some do not qualify.

“Brighten Your Future does not require mandatory repayment of the grant money, but we do hope that the generosity and gratitude of the organization will encourage recipients to donate back to BYF after graduation and/or receiving employment.  We hope recipients consider donating back the amount equal to the amount which they received, so that the "Last Dollar" endowment fund will be perpetuated to aid future graduates of Logan High School. It is a pay-it-forward approach,” Kim Norway, Executive Director shared.

Brighten Your Future is a non-profit and tax-exempt organization established in 1988, which welcomes contributions from individuals and groups who wish to be part of its mission of providing needed financial assistance to Logan High School graduates who want to continue their education. Taylor emphasized that given the continuing increases in higher education costs, trustees are aware of the need for the assets of the foundation to grow.

Contributions to BYF may be made by sending them to: Brighten Your Future, P.O. Box 991, Logan, Ohio 43138.
