"Dear LHSD families,

American Education Week is observed each year during the week prior to Thanksgiving to celebrate our public school community. In addition, it's World Kindness Week, which is a timely reminder of the importance of respecting, supporting and encouraging our fellow students, staff members, friends and neighbors.

This school year, our theme has been amplifying kindness and respect within each of our buildings. With the guidance of their parents, guardians and district staff, our students have risen to the challenge, spreading kindness and being respectful to their fellow classmates, teachers and staff members. I am confident that these lessons in school will also encourage our students to be respectful and kind beyond the classroom, in their homes and community.

I would like to recognize our teachers, bus drivers, custodians, food services staff, classroom aides, nurses, guidance counselors, coaches and administrative staff for the instrumental role they each play in helping our students reach their goals.

While many of the smaller acts of kindness may feel unseen, each occurrence creates a positive chain reaction, spreading compassion and generosity throughout each school building and our entire district. We've included a few recent examples of these acts of kindness, below.

As we celebrate World Kindness Week and Education Week, I would like to extend my gratitude to each of you and wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. I am grateful to you for making our district a wonderful place for our students to learn, grow and succeed.

Sincerely,

Monte Bainter, Superintendent
