The Chieftain Elementary Student Council hosted an Emergency Foster Placement Bag drive that concluded on May 5th. The bags collected are for children who are in foster care or are being taken into emergency custody. When children are placed in emergency custody, they often only come with the clothes they are wearing, a lucky few are able to grab a toy from home. The Student Council at Chieftain Elementary wanted to help these children have what they need for the first few nights in foster care, so they came up with the idea for these bags. The bags included hygiene products such as body wash, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. as well as a comfort item (like a blanket or stuffed animal) and even some pajamas! The students were able to collect a total of 87 bags! The Chieftain community really came together to support this great cause!
