SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Brighten Your Future is pleased to announce the Lillian and Leon Eichel
Scholarship Recipients. Brighten Your Future, Logan-Hocking
community's program to provide access to higher education for
graduates of Logan High School, oversees the selection of the Lillian
and Leon Eichel Scholarship.

Longtime Logan residents Leon and Lillian Eichel established a
scholarship fund to provide scholarships to Logan Senior High School
graduates who are pursuing higher education at an accredited institution.
Mr. And Mrs. Eichel owned Leon’s Sundries of Logan, which was next
to the old movie theater here in town. If you grew up in Logan, you were
sure to go there to buy your candy before you went to a movie.
The Eichel’s hoped to provide students with scholarships and wished to
give consideration to “late bloomers” who didn’t recognize their
academic capabilities until the final two years of school. Recipients are
chosen on the basis of academic potential, academic achievement,
character, financial need, school activities, and community services.
Candidates must be a Logan High School graduate and must be enrolled
