This week, the Social Studies department at our high school has been engaging students through innovative teaching methods across various historical topics. Mr. Riddlebarger's class took a creative approach to learning about Gilded Age reformers through a speed-dating exercise, allowing students to take on the personas of historical figures and interact with one another to understand their contributions to American society. Meanwhile, Mr. Pack's American Government students have been diving deep into civic engagement, exploring how citizens can influence political processes through interest groups and voting rights. The Cold War era came alive in Mr. Walsh's American History classes as students utilized graphic organizers and concept wheels to visualize and connect key events and ideas from this pivotal period. During these winter months, these educators are demonstrating that bringing passion and creativity to historical education can make complex topics more accessible and engaging for their students
